For
granularity
Nov. 2nd, 2016 05:16 pmIt was a little strange coming back to Central City after being away for over a year. Not much had changed while he was gone. Some of the buildings that had been destroyed by the singularity shortly after he left have been repaired and it seemed like everything was business as usual in Central City (which meant the city was still crawling with metahumans, but whatever, that stopped fazing Hartley ages ago). So he really shouldn't have been surprised to walk in and find his apartment exactly how he left it, but it was weird to see this place so unchanged given how much he's changed since he left.
But weird or not, it was still his place, and he was relieved to find it in relatively good condition. It was a little dusty, but at least it was intact. And despite the year's worth of dust, fairly neat too. It wasn't as nice as a fancy hotel probably would have been, but staying there wouldn't exactly be uncomfortable either, if that was what they decided. It wasn't a large apartment, but it had a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and a decent view of the city from his living room window.
"So... this is my place," Hartley finally said, setting their bags down next to his sofa.
There were little personal touches and bits of Hartley's personality all over the apartment; science journals on the coffee table, along with his old hearing aids and some tools, a bookshelf beside the doorway to his kitchen and a flute stand beside that. None of his more... dangerous tech was in plain sight, but he'd either brought most of that with him on his (accidentally permanent) visit to Sandy's city and home or he had it safe and locked up in his bedroom.
All in all, his place looked like a regular apartment for the most part.
"So, what do you think? I can still get us a hotel room if you want."

[ooc: I'm so sorry I haven't been around! I've been sick for the past week or so and I'm just now making my way through my inbox. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on track with things now that I'm feeling human again.]

Date: 2016-11-27 04:14 pm (UTC)He glances over at Hartley with a raised eyebrow and a faintly smug sort of smile. Next anniversary? He's not at all troubled by the idea of the two of them still being together this time next year (as a matter of fact, it puts a bit of a spring into his step) but he's somewhat... touched that Hartley thinks so too. Even if it's just a joke.
"Want me to check the fridge since I'm the least likely of the two of us to die of black mold?"

Date: 2017-01-13 10:00 pm (UTC)It might have been a bit presumptuous to bring up their next anniversary as though their still being together by this time next year was a guarantee, but Hartley felt pretty confident in their relationship. After all, they were technically already living together. Though that didn't so much come about in a natural 'we've been together for a while and this is the next logical step' sort of way, but rather in a Hartley came for a quick visit and simply never left sort of way. But whatever, it works for them.
"Well, out of the two of us, you are the hero," Hartley said, grinning as he gestured to the fridge that he'd been eying cautiously. "It's all yours."

"Okay, this isn't pretty but at least it looks like the cupboard was mostly bare. You wanna grab a garbage bag?"
