Feb. 15th, 2024 12:16 amCHARACTER NAME: Hartley Rathaway (Pied Piper)
CHARACTER SERIES: The Flash
[OOC]
Backtagging: Sure
Threadhopping: Sure
Fourthwalling: Ask first
Offensive subjects (elaborate): None I can think of
[IC]
Hugging this character: Sure. He might not be a jerk about it if he likes the person hugging him.
Kissing this character: Sure. He's gay, so he'll only kiss back if it's a man doing the kissing.
Flirting with this character: Go for it. He might even flirt back.
Fighting with this character: Absolutely. He's a super villain so fighting comes with the territory.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Yep. I'm cool with both minor and serious injuries as long as there's no loss of limbs.
Killing this character: Maybe. Ask and we might be able to plot something out.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Sure, just give me a heads up first.
Warnings: Hartley is currently a super villain. He's only really targeting one person (two, if you count the Flash) at the moment, but he'll go after anyone who gets in his way or tries to attack him first. His weapon of choice is his sonic gloves that emit sonic vibrations that can shatter glass and destroy buildings.
He also has enhanced hearing caused by a particle accelerator explosion that allows him to hear radio waves. His enhanced hearing is also a weakness as it causes him a lot of pain. He uses hearing aids to control his hearing and limit the pain.

Nov. 2nd, 2016 05:16 pmIt was a little strange coming back to Central City after being away for over a year. Not much had changed while he was gone. Some of the buildings that had been destroyed by the singularity shortly after he left have been repaired and it seemed like everything was business as usual in Central City (which meant the city was still crawling with metahumans, but whatever, that stopped fazing Hartley ages ago). So he really shouldn't have been surprised to walk in and find his apartment exactly how he left it, but it was weird to see this place so unchanged given how much he's changed since he left.
But weird or not, it was still his place, and he was relieved to find it in relatively good condition. It was a little dusty, but at least it was intact. And despite the year's worth of dust, fairly neat too. It wasn't as nice as a fancy hotel probably would have been, but staying there wouldn't exactly be uncomfortable either, if that was what they decided. It wasn't a large apartment, but it had a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and a decent view of the city from his living room window.
"So... this is my place," Hartley finally said, setting their bags down next to his sofa.
There were little personal touches and bits of Hartley's personality all over the apartment; science journals on the coffee table, along with his old hearing aids and some tools, a bookshelf beside the doorway to his kitchen and a flute stand beside that. None of his more... dangerous tech was in plain sight, but he'd either brought most of that with him on his (accidentally permanent) visit to Sandy's city and home or he had it safe and locked up in his bedroom.
All in all, his place looked like a regular apartment for the most part.
"So, what do you think? I can still get us a hotel room if you want."

Aug. 15th, 2016 01:20 pmAfter sending his last text, Hartley set his phone down and decided to keep himself busy until Bart got there by playing with his rats. He probably should have considered making some dinner, since it was getting close to that time anyway, but Bart said he'd be there in ten minutes, so Hartley figured it would make more sense to just wait until he got there and then order something if he was hungry. Besides, his mind was on other things at the moment anyway. Like Bart's texts.
Hartley was used to his conversations with Bart taking a vaguely flirtatious tone, but there really hasn't been anything vague about any of this since their road trip. Things were different now, but at the same time not very different at all. They were still friends, but they were also more than that now. They didn't have to limit themselves to subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) flirting anymore.
But it was still sometimes difficult to tell whether Bart was being serious, sarcastic or just plain corny for the hell of it, so Hartley was looking forward to seeing how this evening was going to go.

Jul. 31st, 2016 09:00 pmHartley was pretty sure inviting his boss over to drink with him was a terrible idea. They may have been close once upon a time (admittedly not close enough to feel comfortable getting drunk together), but their relationship seriously suffered after the particle accelerator explosion and all those months Hartley spent distancing himself from everything Harrison and STAR Labs related. Even now, two years and a reluctant (on Hartley's part) reconciliation later, their relationship still wasn't quite what it used to be. So yes, this was probably a mistake. A mistake Hartley couldn't bring himself to give a crap about at the moment.
Hartley had already begun drinking when Harrison offered to let him be his problem, and he wasn't sure if it was the alcohol or his apathy that made him agree, but by the time he heard the knocking at his door any worries he may have had (about making a drunken fool of himself, about Harrison being judgemental and preachy, about getting too mouthy and finally losing his job...) have mostly all faded away. After all, the point to this was that he was someone else's problem for the night.
"Hello," Hartley said, eyeing Harrison warily for a moment before gesturing for him to come inside.

Nov. 17th, 2015 10:15 pmHartley was sitting quietly in the lobby of his hotel as he waited for Clark to arrive for the interview, and afterwards, dinner.
He wasn't sure why he was going through with this interview. He was pretty sure Clark would have still agreed to go to dinner with him even if he had decided he wanted everything to remain off the record. It wasn't as though anything he'd have to say would be new or particularly surprising (unless he wanted to reveal his little side career as the Pied Piper to the world, and that sure as hell wasn't happening).
But he didn't really have much to lose by giving the interview and it was a chance to have his side of the story heard, and perhaps that was too tempting an opportunity to pass up. It was also possible Hartley enjoyed attention way too much not to agree to do this.
But whatever his reasons, Clark Kent would be arriving soon, and Hartley needed to be prepared for any questions the reporter might throw at him. S.T.A.R. Labs was still a sore subject for him, and the last thing he needed was for his bitterness to tip Clark off to the fact that he had something to hide.

I'll be thirty in June.
[Hartley grabs some napkins and then pulls a pen out of his pocket so he can start taking notes. He doesn't want to forget any of this.]
So that's a ten year age difference. What year is it where you're from?
